Fresh cracks have emerged within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors Forum following allegations surrounding the handling of funds reportedly earmarked for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s anticipated 2027 re-election campaign.
According to a report by The Will Nigeria, President Tinubu was forced to intervene after tensions escalated among governors elected on the platform of the APC over claims that more than ₦800 billion raised for political mobilisation had been mismanaged.
At the centre of the controversy is Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who also serves as Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF).
The report alleged that governors had agreed to support Tinubu’s second-term ambition through monthly deductions from their Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) allocations. The deductions were reportedly channelled into accounts linked to a political mobilisation platform known as “Renewed Hope Ambassadors” (RHA), allegedly coordinated by Uzodimma.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Presidency nor the APC national leadership had issued an official statement directly addressing the allegations of financial mismanagement or confirming details of the reported intervention by President Tinubu.
The unfolding crisis is, however, expected to further fuel concerns over internal power struggles within the ruling party as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
