Lagos, Nigeria – The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Candidate for the House of Representatives, Eti Osa Federal Constituency, Hon. Adedayo Akin-Taylor Ekong, has reaffirmed his commitment to promoting sustainable solutions to the persistent flooding challenges facing Eti Osa.
Speaking after a courtesy visit to the Lekki Estates Residents and Stakeholders Association (LERSA), Hon. Ekong described his meeting with the President of the association, Mr. Sulyman Bello, as productive and timely, noting that discussions centred on practical measures to address flooding and improve environmental management across the constituency.
According to the House of Representatives hopeful, the meeting examined the underlying causes of flooding in Eti Osa, with particular attention given to the increasing incidence of illegal developments on waterways and drainage channels. He noted that such activities have continued to obstruct the natural flow of water, thereby worsening flooding and exposing residents to avoidable environmental and safety risks.
Hon. Adedayo stressed the need for stronger enforcement of planning regulations, responsible urban development, and closer collaboration among government agencies, residents’ associations, developers, and other critical stakeholders to achieve lasting solutions to the challenge.
She further described Eti Osa as one of Lagos State’s foremost commercial, residential, and investment hubs, emphasizing that its strategic importance demands continuous investment in resilient infrastructure, effective environmental management, and sustainable urban planning.
The NDC candidate also commended the leadership of LERSA for its commitment to safeguarding the interests of residents and for actively engaging in conversations aimed at improving the living conditions within the constituency. She noted that partnerships between public institutions, community organisations, and residents remain essential to building safer, cleaner, and more resilient communities.
Reaffirming her vision for the constituency, Hon. Ekong pledged to champion legislative initiatives and strategic partnerships that will enhance infrastructure, strengthen environmental protection, and improve the overall quality of life for residents of Eti Osa.
“We must work together to build an Eti Osa that is not only the commercial heartbeat of Lagos State but also a world-class centre of sustainable development, resilience, innovation, and excellence,” she said.
The visit forms part of Hon. Adedayo’s ongoing engagement with key stakeholders across Eti Osa as she continues consultations on policies and initiatives aimed at addressing critical developmental challenges within the federal constituency.
