LAGOS, NIGERIA — Governorship aspirant, Hon. Kayode Oseni, popularly known as “KO IS OK,” has officially defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), describing the move as a “people-driven decision” aimed at advancing the interests of Lagosians.
The announcement was made in a press statement released by his Media Aide, Ayo Agunbiade, who stated that the decision followed extensive consultations with constituents, stakeholders, youth groups, community leaders, and supporters across Lagos State.
According to the statement, Oseni remains firmly in the race for the governorship of Lagos State and is positioning himself as a leading contender ahead of the next electoral cycle.
The politician described the defection as a strategic step toward building a more inclusive, transparent, and progressive political movement capable of addressing the pressing needs of residents.
“As a true son of the soil — Ojúlówó, Ọmọ Bíbí Ilú Èkó — his commitment to the growth, development, and liberation of Lagos remains unwavering,” the statement read.
The camp of the governorship aspirant outlined several reasons behind the move, including respect for the will of the people, commitment to selfless service, protection of democratic values, and the need for practical solutions to unemployment, infrastructure challenges, insecurity, and economic empowerment.
The statement also emphasized Oseni’s grassroots connection and cultural identity as a Lagos indigene, noting that he understands the unique aspirations and heritage of the people.
It further stressed the importance of accountability and transparent governance, adding that the new political platform would allow for greater public participation and responsible leadership.
Calling on supporters and party loyalists to remain steadfast, Oseni described the transition as more than a political realignment.
“This is not just a political move — it is a movement for the people, by the people,” the statement added.
The development is expected to generate reactions within Lagos political circles as preparations gradually intensify ahead of the next governorship election.
