LAGOS, NIGERIA — August 31, 2026

Hon. Houston Brown, National Leader of the One Voice Movement (OVM), has called for a new standard of governance in Nigeria, urging political leaders to place the interests and welfare of citizens above personal ambitions and the misuse of public resources.

In a statement issued today, Hon. Brown emphasized that Nigerians deserve a government founded on integrity, transparency, accountability, competence and respect for the rule of law.

According to him, public office should never be regarded as an avenue for personal enrichment, but as a responsibility entrusted to leaders by the people.

«“Nigeria needs leaders who understand that public resources belong to the people. Governance must be about service, accountability and building a future where every Nigerian has an opportunity to prosper—not about looting or personal enrichment.”»

Hon. Brown further called on political leaders, public officials and citizens to reject corruption, impunity, empty promises and politics driven by personal interests.

He stressed the importance of strengthening democratic institutions, creating opportunities for young Nigerians, improving security and infrastructure, and ensuring that government policies genuinely address the everyday challenges facing citizens.

The One Voice Movement, he noted, remains committed to promoting justice, human rights, equality, accountability and responsible leadership in Nigeria.

Hon. Houston Brown therefore called on Nigerians to remain vigilant, participate actively in the democratic process, and demand leaders who are prepared to serve with honesty, competence and integrity.

“Nigeria belongs to all of us. The government we build must work for all Nigerians.”
